This is another Football 'Chalk Talk' combined with analysis of several actual passing routes to help foster discussion about the different routes your Receivers run and what your Quarterback needs to do to properly read a defense.
Quarterback Read - What the Quarterback needs to read when he comes to the line of scrimmage and what you as a Coach can do to make his ability to read a defense more effective.
Slip Slant - Your receivers’ work together to create a window your quarterback needs to know when and where to look to get the ball to that window.
Slip Under - The QB is reading the linebacker, and the receivers are asked to do things just a little bit different.
Bubble Slant - How a bubble route combined with a slant route creates a window for your quarterback.
Flat Go - The Flat Go Route is a great route to use against cover 3 defenses.
Wheel Slant - Effective against both a cover 1 and a cover 2, a wheel slant route depends on your receivers doing a good job.
Shoot Slant - Still reading the outside linebacker, the window has a place it should be open, but if it’s not you need a contingency plan.
Corner Under - A good route on the goal line and if your defensive backs have poor communication channels…you’ll be able to capitalize on their mistakes.
Fade Route - The “Can’s”, “Cant’s” and things a coach needs to make sure his receivers know.
Dig Route - This dig route is easy to run if the quarterback reads the free safety.
Slip Slant - The remainder of this series is coverage demos filmed at a passing camp with discussions of the routes and assignments.
Over Route - Giving the quarterback 1 read and he needs to know what that read is and the receivers need to know their assignments.
Fade Route - Even when the results are 6, studying the tape can help you solve problems and get more from your athletes.
Bubble Slant - You’ll see the bubble slant out of trips in this discussion.
Dig Route - How it should be done and how it really is done are often two different things. A coach should work hard to insure they are one thing.
Wheel Slant - Small things and big things are shown on tape and must be corrected to become an effective team.
Slip Slant - Knowing what you’re going to do, 100% effort and working hard are vital, and studying tape is how you discover what you need to work on to get those things.
Shallow Route - Reads and assignments are shown, and good jobs on both sides of the ball are what make the game worth the effort.
Dig Route - Watch this play unfold and see how to determine the areas you need to work on with your team.
